About the Event

Disrupt Industry Borders

Commerzbank AG and comdirect - a brand of Commerzbank AG,
together with partners Google, Sages, City of Łódź welcome you to the Collabothon 2021 from 7th to 9th July in Łódź and the very first time in online formula. We are looking forward to developing innovative, cross-industry solutions together during the hackathon and we are already excited to learn all about your ideas.

Borders between finance and industries are fading. To embrace open innovation, the Collabothon brings together players from the financial industry and other sectors to explore and transfer cross-industry knowledge in order to create and develop innovative solutions.

What sets the Collabothon apart from other events is that teams consist of a mix of employees of corporations, start-ups, and scientific institutions, as well as other innovative minds to foster the spirit of cross-industry collaboration.

Within only 48 hours you will make your vision of the future come to reality by developing your own prototype from scratch and pitching it afterwards to the crowd - no powerpoint, we want to see real demos.

There will be several well-known APIs available, plus food and drinks, amazing people and of course, some prizes!

Next Generation Virtual Workplace

by COMMERZBANK

“The last times for the countless number of people home office became new reality, which is not always easy and pleasant. Meetings with kids in the background, neighbors renovation flat or poor internet connection are part of that normality. Nevertheless, we must find ourselves and accommodate new conditions in which modern technologies may help us. Propose a solution thanks to which people will increase comfort, efficiency and joy of everyday work at home.”

Plants ecological effect

by City of Łódź

“ The beneficial impact of trees is obvious and well known to everyone for a long time. As it turns out, plants also have an impact on many others elements - in addition to air purification, temperature reductions that may have a beneficial effect on the value of the property. The challenge is to develop a solution that will help to calculate a value which single tree, parks, squares generate for a single resident, a district or a whole city. The challenge is to develop a method for calculating the ecological effect of plants - Calculate how much greenery earns for us annually (trees, shrubs, flower beds, flower meadows) and what savings it generates, taking into account: influence on temperature reduction, air purification, property value increase, evapotranspiration. ”

Smart & Sustainable Lifestyle

by Google

“We build technology that helps people do more for the planet. Get inspiration on this webpage around our sustainability offerings https://sustainability.google/. We look very much forward to ideas on how ordinary people can reduce their carbon footprint in their daily lives and accommodate their lifestyle in favour of our mother earth. Time flies and the changes we do to our planet are massive, watch timelapse video to find out how quickly our ice melts and forest gets destroyed. A reward system built by banks which can reward people who have a sustainable lifestyle would be fantastic.”

Natural Language Generation

by Sages

“Accessibility of documents and web pages is a critical topic, which still remains unsolved as adapting documents to accessibility standards is a very time-consuming and difficult task through manual work and automatic methods are imperfect. One of specific problems in creating accessible documents is providing alternative text descriptions of such elements as images, graphs and tables. In this challenge we would like to concentrate on generating natural language descriptions of tabular data to improve the reading experience for users with disabilities.”

Łódź - The host city

Despite the fact that this year's edition is mostly done remotely, Łódź remains our host city. Collabothon by Commerzank was warmly welcomed by the city authorities and expectantly, will become another regular event organized in Łódź.

Łódź is a city in central Poland, known as a former textile-manufacturing hub. Its Central Museum of Textiles displays 19th-century machinery, fabrics and handicrafts linked to the trade. Once a factory, the restored Manufaktura complex is now a lively culture and arts center. Nearby is the grand Poznanski Palace, home to the City Museum, with artwork and objects depicting the history of the City.

The event aims to facilitate collaborations across different industries, inspiring each other to explore, transform, and exploit cross-industry knowledge to create and develop innovative solutions. Thus, the teams consist of a mix of employees of corporations, start-ups, and scientific institutions, as well as other individuals such as coder, entrepreneurs and FinTech Evangelists to foster the spirit of cross-industry collaboration.

We'd love to see you on 7th to 9th July – beginning from 9:00 am CET.

This year the Collabothon will take place online. We will provide all the IT tools to keep your collaboration smooth, but Teams will need to organize their workspace themselves.

We are looking for people who want to disrupt the borders between the financial industry and many others: Coders, Entrepreneurs, FinTech Evangelists, Ideation Stars, UX Superheroes, Data Fanatics and so on.

You will develop innovative solutions that disrupt the borders between different industries. There will be several interesting challenges to take on that will be announced soon. Note: We expect everything you develop to be fresh code and Sherlock Holmes along with some other detectives will ensure this during the event.

You can join us as lone warriors as well as small (5-10 people) groups. Due to our cross-industry focus we will do our best to fit any single player into groups with members from different backgrounds and thereby foster cross-industry collaboration.

Of course! Despite our event being conducted online we will provide you with enough energy so that you can develop your solutions with constant power. In our welcome packs you will find a prepaid card so you can order all the fancy snacks.

We will need you to provide your private address so we could send you our welcome pack. If you are a participant based in Poland, you can also choose your favourite Paczkomat.

As long as we are bank, for regulatory reasons prizes can't be offered in cash.We offer amazon.com vouchers in €250 or €500 digital codes
